Our occupational therapists focus on enabling individuals to participate in productive and meaningful activities of daily living. They work individually with clients to restore function, compensate for lost skills and adapt the environment or activity to facilitate independence and promote health. Direct treatment interventions frequently focus on ADL (Activities of Daily Living) skills such as bathing, toileting and dressing, as well as IADL (Instrumental Activities of Daily Living) skills such as driving, medication management and laundry. Occupational therapists also address wheelchair positioning and mobility training, functional continence retraining, environmental modifications, dementia management, low vision, fall prevention, and psychosocial needs, including depression.
Our physical therapists work with clients, families, caregivers and senior living communities to thoroughly assess a person’s abilities and limits in order to recommend solutions to help the individual enjoy activities with as much ease and comfort as possible. A tailor-made program can improve everything from balance, strength and endurance to range-of-motion and motor skills to pain management. The ultimate goal is to enable the clients to function at their best potential.
Our speech-language pathologists provide rehabilitative services for communication, cognitive and swallowing disorders. Coastal Rehab’s speech therapists are certified in the application of neuromuscular electrical stimulation and biofeedback for the most effective treatment in recovering swallowing function. Our speech team also provides expert services in the standardized evaluation and treatment of both cognitive and language-based disorders.
